Vespires are a social, sophisticated species that dwell within the Ebony Wreath. Their society is just as complex as that of pouflons, though their population is much more compact and generally lives in cities carved into the walls of mountains- or inside the mountains themselves, within caverns naturally occurring or created for their purpose.
Though vespires coexist peacefully with most other species, they've had a rivalrous relationship with pouflons for centuries. Their breath and claws can match the magic & swords of most pouflons- but clashes between them are rare, as pouflons are taught to avoid them, and vespires tend to keep to themselves. |
Magic
The magical talents of vespires are not as diverse as that of pouflons- instead, vespires focus on magic in the form of breath, or pneumir, which can be used for offensive, defensive, or aesthetic purposes. They are able to breathe smoke for different effect – such as irritant gas, thick, impenetrable fog, or simply to express their mood or impress another vespire. Any smoke they breathe will be their runic color. Some vespires can breathe fire, which is a rare trait.
Diet
|
Vespires can eat almost any kind of solid earth material – rocks, minerals, gems, and jewels all sustain their diet, which they mine deep into the Ebony Wreath mountains to obtain. However, they can only absorb magic from gems and jewels.
A vespire's stomach works like a furnace; rocks and minerals that have a lower melting point are easier and faster to digest, while gems and jewels with higher melting points take longer to digest, and their magic is absorbed slowly.

Anatomy
Vespire anatomy is perfectly suited for their mountainous lifestyle- they are agile climbers with large lungs accustomed to breathing thin air.
Their mouths are have no true teeth and are similar to a serrated beak, strong enough to crush and chew gems and minerals. Their claws and tails are hard enough to break through rock, and are used for offense and mining.
Runic Color: A vespire will have the same color on their eyes, filagree (lip corner) and sometimes the tip of their tail- this is their Runic color. Their magic smoke shares the same color as their runic also. The runic color must be on the eyes and filagree but can also be anywhere else on the body.

Traits
Vespires have two main body types: Lithe and Brute. Lithe type has a defined forehead and lithe forearms, while Brutes have a flat forehead and large forearms. Brutes tend to specialize in strength, digging & excavating, while Lithes excel in speed, climbing and flying. (click to expand images) Vespire ankle spurs are optional.

Ears
Ears can be any natural style and can have varying levels of fluff, as well as nicks & cuts, etc.
Horns
Vespires can have horns at the rare tier and above. Legend tier horns can have any length/style/texture.
|
Wings
Vespires have a few styles of wing, with the dragon/bat style being the most common. Enchanted transparent wings can have full or partial transparency. Legendary wing styles can be combined with transparency, but you would need a trait spell for the legend wing you wanted as well as an enchanted trait for the transparency.
